Finished the restoring on another Hubley. The #493 set was manufactured in 1955-56 in a orange/aluminum paint scheme. It has the complete set of 12 rounded edge boards, that are hard to find in loose sets. They made the same set in red in '57 with a log(dowel) load. The cab is the only type made for the smaller 490 series, the log trailer is harder to find than the #492 Auto Transport trailer. Probably more auto carriers were sold than log trucks, cars are more fun than logs. I've made some progress on my backlog of restores lately. I'll never finish, I always wind up with more.
What a beautiful job! I love the chains around the lumber! So realistic!
Thank you both for your kind words.. Nutsabot, I have actually been looking for a forklift(s) somewhat to scale for some my trucks, believe it or not. Wish I could find a vintage one the right size. I need some crates, pallets, oil drums etc. for loads too. They had some Topper toy's Johnny Express truck loads, forklift and a cool conveyor on Ebay, but they seem too large. I just need something close to the size.
Still yet another beautiful restoration job.
