This was in the trash outside a house that was being renovated. The house was built in the 1880s and, according to a elderly neighbor, only had three prior owners. The same neighbor said this was the dining room light fixture and was likely to be the original. The shade is about 12" high and about 24" in diameter. It is reverse painted glass. I can't find anything like it anywhere. Is it rare? Is it really from the 1880s? What style is it?
WOW Z WOW !
What does it weigh ?
I'm so glad you rescued it and it wasn't broken! I love old light fixtures!
It looks more 1920's from what I see.
Agree on the 1920s dating..
I'd think the 1920's would be a logical time frame for an 1880's house to have first been "electrified"...? Its a lovely (and large?!) fixture, could we possibly see another few pics of it?
