I found this small rock and it seems to have metal in it. I've had it for several years and was just curious about it. It
seems to have a letter, number or something on it. Can a rock get like this from being in a fire where metal burned onto it?
Just curious about it. Thanks for the help!

Curious object. Do you know for certain that there is metal on the rock ? As a kid, I carried around a squarish 2" cube that appeared more silver than anything else. Finally found out that it was a cube of slag from the Confederate iron furnaces. Also, friends have told me that decades of weathering haven't improved my looks. I differ with them !

Does a magnet attract to it? It could be a piece of space debris.

At first I thought maybe paint but I took a Q tip and put a little paint remover on it and tried rubbing a tiny spot. Nothing came off. A magnet doesn't stick to it. The odd pattern on the rock is what's interesting to me. I wish I had friends that told me that. I feel as old as that rock looks at times. Thanks!
