To Steiff or not to Steiff!

I picked up this little guy, 4" high, from an estate sale. I don't know anything about vintage Steiff animals except for the fact they should have a button in their ear. I know this because I had a Steiff deer as a child. Poor Bambi is lost now.
Can any of you collectors please let me know how to tell if it's a Steiff or a Hermann? Or neither? Thank you!
