I would like to ask for your opinions on this piece of jewelry. I bought this chain with pendant online, in a lot of costume jewelry from Czech republic. The glass cabochon puzzles me. It changes color from red to green, and very prettily so. There is less green under artificial light. The colors you can see on photos is how it cca looks in reality. Pity the color does not change from red to blue, I never had a saphiret / sappharine piece and I would really like to :)
Do you know how this one glass type is called? And how about the necklace / pendant age?
Thank you for your opinions on this in advance!
P.S. Upon checking the link I gave to Delia, I realized that it DOES resemble the last piece pictured in the article. So maybe its a modern sappharine piece, after all. Well, we will probably never know.

What a beautiful & unusual glass stone, and great antique pendant design
Thank you Newfld!
Beautiful color!
Thank you Tigra!
I am not a subject matter expert in stones, but I don't believe this stone is a sapphire.
It is definitely gorgeous though, you have a beautiful old piece.
Ms.CrystalShip, thank you for all your knowledge! The color change is not the one described for alexandrite color change. I wish I had an alexandrite piece!! Unfortunately, this is glass (but an interesting one).
Delia, check this link - very interesting!
