I am not sure where this ring was made. If I had to guess, I would say that it was made in Mexico or in the south-west of the States. The ring is large, well made, and the "stone" might be spiny oyster. I have looked online for a long time but have not found one like mine yet.

    Thanks for looking:)

It's beautiful, how does it feel? Possible it is 'petrified wood' ? This material becomes very hard and can be carved like a stone. I don't recognize it as a type of gem, but then there are so many variations. Very nice!

Thanks so much for your comment, truthordare. Actually, when I first saw the ring, I thought it was petrified wood. Then I checked on line for pictures of jewelry and all of them had a very shiny finish. Mine is a bit dull. Because of the colour, I guessed that it was spiny oyster - but it is so hard to identify something based on photos alone! I welcome all suggestions:)

I saw it was a little mat looking, but that just confirmed to me that it may be the petrified wood, as that is an organic material which was polished. My opinion. It think it's great I have never owned a piece but have some friends who got some from Arizona.

Truthordare, thanks again for you comment. Sorry for the late response. I have been so busy. I had a second close look and also think that it might be petrified wood after all:)

I figured Mary would know what this stone is but then again there are soooo many different stones and crystals and omg turquoise mines that everything gets blurry sometimes! I have a question sent to a stone cutter I know, let's see what they say. And to me is looks like there is a marking on the inside of the band there right where it connects to the silver backing on the left side???

Orange Calcite! A great sample of it too!
