This was my favorite find in the yard sale box. This portrait was framed by The Dore Art Store, Cleveland, Ohio (as per the faint sticker on the back). In pencil on the back of the photo is the date May 24, 1897. I think... the date is correct but the nine is faded and kind of looks like a one. It also has the name Anne Cahoon. I am not sure if this is the person in the picture or the person who took the picture.
Tons of research and I found an Anne Cahoon who went to a Ladies college in the 1800's to learn about art and was working at the Dore Art Store in the late 1800's.
I believe the best part of finding treasures is learning about an item and putting the puzzle together.
