Looks to be 2nd quarter, 20th century.

I would call it an end or side table-- bottom rack for papers/ magazines and the top pull outs for ash trays or to hold drinks (coasters).

I thought it was a table for a home library or study. The book rack below is for bound books.
When using a book, which would be laid on top of the table, maybe in a cradle-like book holder. the pull-out sections would hold a candle for better illumination.
It's hard to see in the picture, but isn't there another slide-out section on the other end? If so, it would hold a second candle.
But, of course, the previous response has just as much merit!

I found a table almost identical to yours!
It could be your inspiration to fix yours up. I don't know how to link info here so if you will go to Etsy and search for
RedefinedShop (all one word with capitol R and S), they have a beautiful table listed as Vintage Accent Table with Slanted Bookshelf. Says it's from 1920s.
It does not have the pull-out pieces. Do they look like something that was added on?
I hope yours winds up as pretty as the one on Etsy!
