This brooch is on the back rose gold, no hallmarks and on the front I think it's platinum or white gold. I don't think it is silver because is is not becoming black by time. There are a lot of rose cut diamonds (tested). In the past I think it has been also a the possibility being a pendant because on two sites at the back are still the remainders of hooks as a lot of antique brooches had.
From what period this brooch could be ? And have you any idea of the country of origin?

I would take this in personally to a reputable jeweler to have it tested. I bet if you used very high magnifcation there would be a mark on it somewhere. These are typically white gold on the front, yellow gold on the back, with rose cut diamonds early Victorian (pre 1875) and possibly even Georgian era. It looks French, but again, very close examination with a high powered loupe to reveal any hallmarks will tell the story. The use of yellow on the back, white on the front, and use of rose cuts all scream Georgian to me, possibly French. Have it looked at "in person" by an expert. Some times the hallmarks can be extremely difficult to find, elusive and concealed in the strangest area, like the pin stem, the c clasp assembly, or under the inner edge of the hinge mechanism.

      Hello Sundayandsundag,

Thank a lot for your clear information. It realy could be from France because the seller has often antique jewels from Belgian or France. I'looked once again with loops of several magnifications for a hallmark but realy I cannot find one. So the only way, I think, what you advised also, is let look it by an expert.
      Again thanks !

Hi Again, you have such gorgeous jewels. I was inspired by you to post some of my things now so hope you will take a look : ) Just one thing the fact that there were the loops on the back of the brooch does not always necessarily mean that it was part of a larger piece often there were loops or small hooks placed at either side of a brooch to allow it be worn as a necklace also. I hope that info helps it is a wonderful jewel. Kitty

This brosche is restored. The two aborted hooks at the back have been restored and therefore it is not only to wear as brooch but also as a necklace. So more possibilities and finally in original state.
