California Studio Art Pottery

Any help identifying this piece would be greatly appreciated. Edgefield Pottery Museum expert told us that he was impressed with the quality of how this piece was made. We can make out the word 'California' on the bottom around the rim below the lettering that you can see in the picture. He said he was sure it was 24 k gold that was used in the glaze. He said that the person who made it was extremely knowledgeable about the use of the gold to keep it from turning red. Thanks for helping!
