Pottery elephant - found object

This elephant is 4" high x 4" long by 2.5" wide. Unmarked. I found this and a broken version of one of these on my front lawn one morning. ?? There is a house which has been converted into an apartment across the street from me, so my guess is that someone was moving in or out and broke one of a pair and tossed the other one. Probably Made in China, but it is a pretty lush little elephant, so I adopted him.
