The Broadway musical show My Fair Lady starring Julie Andrews opened in 1956, and the costume jewelry co BSK (1948-1983) made several pieces in the late 50s to celebrate the show. Here are three brooches from that line, a 2 1-2" parasol, 2 1-2"W top hat w. gloves & cane, and 1 3-4" flower basket, all marked BSK-My Fair Lady on back. The show later became the 1964 Audrey Hepburn film
That top hat is beyond sensational, but all great designs !~
The rain in Spain stays mainly in the plain! ...
Fun Brooches :)
These are my favourite brooches of yours I've seen in a while! Especially the top hat and gloves- in the thumbnail I thought it was a crane in flight first....now it's even better than that up close! Of course in the film Freddie was played by Jeremy Brett- my favourite Sherlock Holmes actor too! :P
The top hat is definitely one of my favorites here Phil, so glad you liked it and love your super fine compliments, thanx much
Lol buckethead, I can still hear Audrey Hepburn saying-singing that in the movie, she had to lose that cockney accent! Many thanks for the smile and cool comment
Lauren I'm so thrilled you liked this grouping alot, I was worried in the thumbnail they wouldn't show up and look too far away, this is like the max amount of brooches I've ever posted together. Thanks for the kind words & BTW I like Jeremy Brett too :)
Aw Ken, love your fantastic compliments you are so great to me as always. I mainly like BSK because they did a lot of pretty figural pieces, and did you know this My Fair Lady series was a huge success for them - I've been getting a lot of costume jewelry books lately (Bruniati, Warman, all the Julia Carrolls) and it's fun to cross reference & learn about the vintage companies - I can't afford to post them all (Schreiner, forget it) but glad to find some golden oldies & post for my good friends here to enjoy
Mary I read about this series in books, then made 'net searches on all the antique jewelry sites & comparison shopped for price & condition - for example, someone was selling the parasol quite a bit cheaper but the ivory enamel had noticeable worn spots, so paid a bit more for the nicer one. Got them in different places, rl for the flower basket, estee (lol, I have to alter it!) for the other two. Appreciate the comment & great words
Eileen you read my mind, that was exactly why I chose the flower basket, because the little rhinestones in the flowers added sparkle - actually all three have some rhinestones; unless an item has spectacular enamel colors or a bright feature like contrasting metals, it lacks pizzazz to me. This My Fair Lady series had maybe 20 designs, a flower wheelbarrow, ladies and mens Victorian hats, lots of different floral bouquets are a few, my special favorite is the binoculars with black enamel and red rhinestones - because it's so unusual they wanted a full $ for that one, it's a tiny piece so I passed. Naw, not collecting the series but hope others will post more pieces, they also had My Fair Lady earrings & bracelets, you have to watch for good condition here as they're @ 60 yrs old (!)
Many thanks everybody for loving this bunch

Wow, I didn’t know they made a line from that musical. Nice finds!
I was also surprised to find out they made this line MrsT, it was a great musical (I only saw the film) and deserved some jewelry recognition, very glad I could find some nice examples. Thanks for the kind comment
The pieces are a joy to see! I tried to pick my favorite but decided it its the grouping of all three that I like the best.
I thought of you and your may lovely brooches when I went through my mothers costume jewelry this past weekend. She could class up any outfit with the correct accessories.
Very kind compliments OldeAsDirt, thank you so much for them and really appreciate the love too - my mom & aunts were also super at accessorizing, I can still recall their colorful Emilio Pucci style clothes they would dress up with belts & shiny jewelry, it's great to have these memories :)
