so I decided to give her a cleaning to share on a Facebook site and realize she has a hole at the top of her head and through the bottom of the base you can see all the way through to that hole. she also has a hole at the base of her back.
Hoping the hubby can make her a wooden stand that fits to the shape of her base.

Have you found an explanation of the 2 items you have put flowers in?
They look so out of place, what ever they are.
Does she have pierced ears? If so, maybe at one time, she wore long dangling earrings and those objects were oversized ornaments/parts of the earrings.

Not only are there 2 gourds looking pieces on the front, there is also one in center of her back....which you can see in pic#2 above the hole at base of back.
She does have holes in her ears as if they are pierced!!!! Wow!!! I sure didn't notice that.
I will add a picture of her ear lobes for you.
Thank you for looking and commenting. Now I have to Google Hecate .

Thank you for researching via internet.
I wondered myself what those 3 gourd looking pieces were and what used for...I just threw some flowers in them to show they could hold somerhing. Now going to look up Hecate.
      Thank you

honestly, i didn't like these the first time i saw it, but i keep going back and liking it more each time. there's something 'Goldscheider' or 'Larchenal' about them. now i think they're GREAT!
    7. ho2cultcha ho2cultcha, 6 years ago
not Larchenal, but another deco period maker... forget the name... from france. but her boobs are really BIG. gives 'BUST' a new meaning!

Are those holes big enough for an electrical cord? The one at the back looks maybe big enough -- but are the others ?

Could those vases hold smaller taper candles? Just wondering. I sure hope she is Medusa, and not some "Fertility God" .... LOL .... Or you could be in Trouble !! Or any of us for looking at her - BA-HA-HA

Hole on top of head and hole at base if back are definatly big enough to wire and make into a lamp.
I flipped her over yesterday to see if wire could go through the 3 vase/gourd looking pieces but no they are solid inside of each 3. Now I'm the top holes of the 3 are big enough for a small candle but I dont have any candles at this moment to demonstrate for you.

Will you post a view of the entire back side, please?
At first glance, I thought I was seeing her clavicles, but that's not right. Whatever that detail is extends up her neck. It looks like distended neck veins, but that can't be right either. So what could that be? Vines or stems of a plant?
Vines would fit with the gourd theory.
Maybe the gourds held water and the artist inserted actual living leaves and stems and vines of gourd plants. Maybe wrapped a few vines around her, put her on the ground in the garden where those cute little ornamental gourds were actually growing, then, if she is the color of soil, she would look as if she's erupting from the earth--pushing up gourds as she comes up.
So, that said, i believe she's yard art. I would LOVE to have her in my yard!

Another thought along the "yard art/Earth erupting goddess" idea:
The hole right at the base could have been made there so a slender metal anchor rod could have been inserted to secure her in place.
And on her head: NOT snakes like Medusa, but earthworms which were brought up as she erupted from the ground.
All this has given me ideas of making an "Earth goddess" of my own!

Thanks for the back view....but it doesn't provide any fresh ideas as I had hoped.
Is she made of fired pottery?
