Don’t think it’s a valuable piece at all but was in the market for a new long solid coffee table. Saw this one in the free section of CL and the owner indicated it was super heavy. Figured I’d take a chance and grabbed it. Turns out under an ugly “esspresso” stain it has a mahogany veneer over what look so like oak or some other hardwood. Weighs probably 50-60lbs and solid as a rock after tightening the legs on it. Have only refinished the top so far, not sure on the style or maker but looks 60’s maybe 70’s. It is well made though. Some of my other pieces are in the background of this shot. I have recently undertaken redecorating my apt with solid wood pieces but not spending any money on them. I got tired of ikea and refinishing my friends nice furniture so figured I’d prove a point. Will post a before and after picture later on showing everything soon so stay tuned. Update added a new couch that better matched the rest of the stuff. As a side note every single piece of furniture in this photo was picked up for free and even counting supplies the grand total is 25$.
A coffee table is a great item, can do all your business deals over it. Glad you got rid of those drink stains.
Yeah it’s a solid piece. Not too fancy or antique but solid and the veneer was Not damaged. The finish was a chore to get off but now it’s all good.
You did a great job. Now it's a super coffee table. Well done.
Super nice grouping with that yellow chair!
