I hadn't heard of Rugen, Germany before but apparently it is the largest island owned by Germany in the Baltic Sea and it has a long and historic past. Looking up similar yellow Variegated glass, I found an upload of a small collection by Warren of "bohemianglassandmore" fame of this type of glass. It was quite a while ago but I think that this type of glass was most probably made by Harrach. This pitcher measures 6 1/4" tall by 4 3/8" and has gilding around the rim, the handle and has lettering that includes al Rugen. It has a yellow inner layer, the white "spatter" and a clear outer layer. I wish I knew what the first part of the lettering was....anybody know?

I think the rubbed word is Sassnitz. This is the name of the biggest city of Rugen. The writing probably was' Sassnitz auf Rugen '.The jug is a souvenir from Rugen.
Thank you MALKEY for the love and comments. Thank you Ivonne for helping me on the identification of the writing....makes a lot of sense..”Sassnitz auf Rügen” and thank you for the love. Thank you also to thruthordare, Newfld and Vinyl33rpm for the loves. Bob
