This is the 14k gold with large white diamond badge belonging to Chief Special Agent John H. Burnett of the Rock Island Railroad. What makes this Collectors show and tell website so important and valuable is that I posted a photo of the badge 7 years ago. Well another collector who visited the site contacted me an said he had Burnett's gun! Who would have thought!! Well the gun is more beautiful than the badge. It is 44 caliber S&W model in engraved nickel and gold. It has one dollar gold pieces and a gold horseshoe with diamonds. Rubies in the eyes of the carved long horn steer grips and Burnett's name carved in the grips. There are two Rock Island Railroad logos and a 14k gold horse and rider on it as well. Also Burnett's face is erected on the side frame along with his thumb print. This gun was featured in s 1929 issue of "Rippleys Believe it or Not" as being know as the "Glorious Gat", meaning gun. It was described as the most beautiful handgun in the world. Thanks again to Collectors weekly for bringing these two historic pieces back together again!

What a phenomenal find ! They almost overdid it on this S&W. I'm curious as to why the fingerprint ? Whoever has his hand on the handle is the owner!

How in the world could anyone be expected to fire such a perfect weapon? Certainly these were designed only with the intention of being displayed. Thank God they are in the right hands for now and thank you so much for sharing them with the public.
