This 26" x 26" Peace Symbol Shag Rug has had a colorful existence as explained to me by the daughter of the original owners. Given originally as a wedding gift in 1971 (we received a lava lamp - oh the 70's), it was used in their home for decades as she grew up. It was eventually regulated to the attic which turned out to be a good thing. The hippie peace rug was one of the very few items that survived a serious house fire. Was meant to be saved.

Yes, the 70s were special. Hooking rugs was a hobby that sprang up quickly, became very popular, then died out just as quickly.
The framed hooked rug and it's subject matter, the peace sign, are definitely the 70s! Thank you for posting this special piece!
