Boyfriend and I are consolidating furniture in our new place and are considering selling this. He said that when he bought the dresser that the guy he bought it from said it was a valuable piece (but he couldn't remember why). I did some research and thought that it looked like it may be from the 1930s. Thoughts?

It is from the 2nd quarter, 20th century.

There is a lot available from that era and I wouldn't call this piece particularly valuable. The contrasting veneers on the drawers (mahogany) with the bottom piece (maple) does make it stand out and would make it more desirable to some folks.

It IS a pretty chest, and looks to be in great shape in your pics. I think I'd consider keeping it, but discarding the cinderblock bookshelf in the background instead...?? ;-) :-)

I vote to keep it too. I recall the days of the makeshift furniture. I had an ammo crate coffee table.

A run of the mill dresser if ever considered valuable. A piece like this is rather common, nice enough, but these pieces were never considered valuable in any decade so the guy was off his rocker.

AnythingObscure... LOL! The cinder blocks are in place until we get some metal brackets made to put the old barn wood shelves on. :) We are going with an industrial/modern vibe.
Thank you everyone for the very helpful comments! We are going to keep it for now.
