This 6 1-2"H x 7 1-2"W amber glass covered dish is in the design of a zeppelin shaped acorn, with cut glass texturing & 4"W squirrel topper, a scalloped base and a side handle that will make a pretty gravy boat on my Thanksgiving table. With original vintage LE Smith label in center bottom
Best wishes to all CW participants & your families for a very happy Thanksgiving luv Jenni

Squirrels and nuts go together well. LE Smith made some fine pieces.

nice squirrel; Smith copied these from Vallérysthal & Portieux c1907 who made them is various colors with cold painted décor.

What a great Thanksgiving piece! So cute!

Thanks fort for the super comment, I agree it's a perfect squirrel-nut match, he's even holding a smaller nut in his little hands lol!

Many thanks TallCakes for the really kind compliment and great background info, were it not for the label and background 'net research I would have had a tough time IDing this one which is not in my glass books. Sold to me as the all encompassing mid-century, would you agree

Thomas your tree must make all the neighborhood squirrels very happy lol! It must be a beautiful tree, thanks so much for the great comment

Right MrsT, doesn't this piece just say 'Thanksgiving', I totally agree! I thought it was just a lovely bowl but when I saw the handle thought, this could be really useful for gravy or even something bigger like mashed potatoes, it will be easy to move around the table. Wonderful compliment/comment, thanx so much

      Appreciate the Thanksgiving love all

I love the little detail forming a sort of handle for the bottom part: it's a tiny root sprouting from the acorn, securing it to the ground, tapping into the soil. The first sign of life for a mighty oak tree!
      What a special design!

seems Smith acquired the mold from Wright (who copied VP) and the mold later went to AA Imports. So it would be hard to say for sure if this is Wright or Smith; except that you have the label. Smith acquired the Wright mold in 1999.

here's a little online history(scroll down to Acorn with Squirrel):

Thanks Watchsearcher for your super compliment & love, it's so great that you noticed more about this piece, and I agree that it's a very special design, it sort of even has an oak leaf styled base

Appreciate the excellent info and link TallCakes, isn't it something how sellers will give you misleading date info, that's why I always cross check and if I don't know, leave the date off. I think it is most probably the newer Smith piece, not only from the label but it is in absolutely perfect condition with nary a chip nor dent. It can be hard to follow when co's pass their mold around, that happened a lot with Heisey too

Thanks so much aura for the very kind love and support, you sure are a wonderful thoughtful lady
