This is a real heavy 1800's Lignum Wood Bowling Ball. It looks as if someone might have sold it and capped and re-drilled for new and smaller finger holes. When I found it (years ago) sitting on the floor at my elderly aunts house with an artificial flower in it, I had no idea what it might be and she was too old to tell us. I had to research it on the internet to figure it out.
"Historically, bowling balls were often made from dense hardwoods such as Lignum Vitae, but starting in the early 20th century, hard rubber became the primary material for bowling balls. "
