This little gorgeous antique smokers table or humidor is copper lined on the inside. Everything about this table is beautiful.
My daughter said that it belongs to her when I die. It is a beautiful table with a lot of ornate hand carved work.
I tied the door closed to keep my small son from opening it. I'm hoping that they can burry me with this table.
Do you know anything about the front door carving of a jockey or some man in a hat?
I am guessing it's English and he is a jockey but it looks French.
He is a Roman legionnaire, I think.
Thank you, now I have something to go search. You might be right because it looks like some armor jacket that he is wearing.
Rococo revival, late 19th century. In form at least. Western Europe. But the shelf puzzles me.
Thank you Golgatha!
Probably around 1930 when these started to show up a lot. Definitely not a 19th century piece. These were quite popular in the 1940's also, but not usually as ornate.
Did you get any more info on this piece I found one with a similar face carved on the door but the one I have has a beard.
Mataman..I did not yet find any more information. Anything that you have would be more than we have found so far, I appreciate it..
Almost every ancient civilization going back to years BC have had Gods of tobacco and or smoking. Perhaps the carving is intended to depict one of them.
