This is a plaster statue of "The End of the Trail" by J.E. Fraser and apparently the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center commissioned the Dave Grossman Design Company to reproduce statues of the originals in the museum. I have only found bronze versions of these statues online, which makes this one a bit of a mystery.

This is very unique as a plaster statue because the original that it portrays is also plaster, which I've found doing some research on the history of the statue.

Wondering if anyone has seen any other plaster statues of this type by the Dave Grossman Design Company for the national Cowboy HOF. Or plaster statues of this in general. I'm blown away by the emotion and sadness of this piece - a well done recreation of the original. The dimensions are 14" in height, 12" in length and 8" in depth. Thanks for any help.

I suggest you contact the Booth Western Art Museum, Cartersville Georgia.
The may be able to answer your questions or point you in the right direction.
Your plaster piece is beautiful. Maybe the plaster ones were used to make molds for pouring the metal version... just a wild guess.

Thank you for the information. And, yes, I was thinking it's possible that this could have been for making the molds, but I'm not sure you'd mount that afterward.

It does look identical to the one bronze one I found online, so that may be the case.

I love this. It's very sad for what it represents, but I still love it. I've only seen them in Bronze. My grandmother had one. I have an actual sand painting by Florence Yazzie.

Newbie606, do you know anything else about the plaster statue we both have? I can't find a thing on the plater ones. Thanks.
