Although later in the 70s than I usually would venture, this was too good a piece of Rock history to pass by. Acquired from Hake's Auctions and surprisingly for less than I expected. They described this one of a kind piece like this: "11.5 x 12.5" high relief thin Vacuform plastic Halloween mask for Kiss founding member Gene Simmons. Collegeville, 1979. Plastic portion of mask has been completely hand-painted and mask has faux hair pieces at left/right and top. Simmons' widow's peak has blue accent that was not present on final production masks (a solid black widow's peak was used). Mask is marked "Original" in blue ink on inside, Collegeville's way of identifying it as a unique prototype. Some scattered paint wear to black areas of hair and around eyes, w/small spot of glue staining on underside of chin. .25" crack to top edge of mask, w/.25" and .75" cracks at chin as well as tiny scattered edge cracks. Fine/VF overall. See following items #2509-2510. A must-have for the Kiss collector. From the Collegeville Archives..." Stunning find from the founding member of this Rock n Roll Hall of Fame group.
Hey HippieArchaeologist! Love the Gene mask! I actually bought the Ace in the same auction and i would love to put them together if possible. Would you consider parting with the Gene?
