My grandfather got this for my grandmother when he was in the Civilian Conservation Corps. They were dating at the time. I'm thinking about donating it to the local history museum...they have a few more examples in their collections.

Great item. The CCC was run like a military organization.

In fact the company commanders were Regular Army Officers!

      Thanks for posting,

Thanks for responding, Scott. I also have my granddad's discharge papers from the CCC, and a stack of love notes my grandma wrote him while he was in. I noticed on the discharge papers he went AWOL a couple of times...which is hysterical cause if you read the letters, he was with my grandma!! Scandalous! lol

Since your pillow cover is named to him, I'd keep it together with the letters and paperwork.

It is something of a family treasure that won't be appreciated by MOST museums.

I think if I did try to get it into the local museum, it would be on loan. I know grandpa became a skilled carpenter working there. I only have 1 letter from him to my grandmother, and he's talking about a sickness being in the camp and how he was in charge of the sick people. I think Scarlet fever?? Maybe something else I don't remember. The letters are written in pencil, so I don't want to handle them too much...they're fading greatly.
