I had a busy week entertaining guests from out of town but did manage to get to one estate sale on Saturday where I found this antique etching. It was out in the garage and the glass was covered with dust and dirt.It took half a roll of paper towels and a lot of windex and here is the end result of my 5.00 purchase. There is a monogram on bottom left that I havnt deciphered yet.If anyone there is familar with etching I would love to more it thanks.
A preparatory drawing for Adam and Eve by Peter Paul Rubens, I think.
The Fall of Man, Adam and Eve or Adam and Eve in the earthly paradise is a 1628-1629 painting by Rubens, now in the Prado in Madrid. Once attributed to the minor Dutch artist Karel van Mander, it is now recognised as a work by Rubens. Wikipedia
The crucial point is: How old is the paper.
Thanks to you all for the comments and help with this.I will have to take it apart and examine it more throughly. Happy Holidays and Happy Hunting everyone!!!!
