This time of year is the most intense shopping period for yourself and your loved ones. It's also a reminder for us older folks, how much we used to have to choose from, without any concerns about getting what you think you bought, as we often buy online now instead of browsing on foot through the large department stores, and handling the merchandise before we pay.
I remember a trip to Florida during early 1980s, visiting my dad and his second family in Palm Beach, shopping was always my favorite past time when I traveled, and we went to Burdines in West Palm Beach for the full experience. We also went to the Gap, which was new then, and one of the first American stores who had their clothing stock made in China, at cheaper prices there of course.
The Seventeen magazine cover reflects the 1966 MOD trend on the cover, and a great ad for flat dressy shoes, in beautiful leather and suede, with stitching details, and the fun socks that finished the whole look.
Looks at the prices, amazing. Melancholy for those old times, we did not know how much this lifestyle would change, and the whole economy as well for a lot of different retailers.
Great 60s images, I love the mod clothing & fab shoes
Thanks Jenni, another thing I notice right now is girls looked like girls and older women still dressed very elegantly, such as Jackie Kennedy Onassis by then.
Groovy!
