Edit....added detail pic of carved top.
This table may be a butler's table, but we aren't sure. It's at my mother and father in laws, and my mother in law, who adores French decor, loved it. The kids find the faces carved in it creepy, hence the name. This is the only picture I have of it right now, but I am hoping someone here will know more than I have been able to find in my hours of searching about a possible time period, country of origin (from the wood, style, and/or carving) or a direction to go in for more info. When we are there next - which may be awhile - I will scour it for more details, clues, etc. but for now, I'm hoping you all can help ease my inquisitive mind!
Rococo revival. Late 19th century. The style comes from France, but was copied in many countries.
I think this is a definite 20th century production now that I have seen 2 of them here on this site. Very nicely carved but possibly thailand or indonesia made. There was just another on this site a week or so ago, somewhat different top.
Added more pics now that we have it full time. Would love input on how to know if it’s hand carved and where if we can tell with the added pics. I can tell the carved scene was attached to the table by hand rather than a machine, but that’s about it.... Thanks to all who have chimes in!
