The 1 1-2" pin shows a crested male cardinal with red rhinestone body & black eyes on textured goldtone, by Dodds. Paired with a 5 1-2"H red glass cardinal by Mosser Glass, item #177 from the 1990s, retired
I remember first seeing these in our front yard on the farm when I was a kid. I meant the real ones, but this bird of yours is a keeper !~
Beautiful couple!
I love the way you get a glass piece to match your glittering figurals :-D
More pretty Cardinals!
Lovely birds these Cardinals.....your glass one looks like he's perched on a sprig of holly trying to decide which berry to take first and the brooch cardinal appears to be strutting about very proudly!!
Thanks Phil for the wonderful comment as always, it is so great to see cardinals outside the window, that amazing splash of red color is one of nature's beauties
Thank you Pascale, I am really glad you enjoy my "match-ups", I try to make them complementary pieces so they will enhance each other, these two cardinals seemed to belong together :) Lovely compliments always super appreciated
Thomas you put my thinking cap on, I ran to the internet and found there are seven states with the cardinal as their state bird, wow! I was surprised my state NY wasn't one of them as they are very prevalent here esp in the winter. Great words as always my friend
Thanks Toyrebel for the really nice comment, yes it seems like you see cardinals everywhere esp at the holidays, and looking back I realized I posted a different glass cardinal by Viking last yr!
Lauren you can really bring these pieces to life for me, thank you for sharing the lovely thoughts about the birds' activities, now I can picture them too! Don't you just love how the cardinal almost always has its mate close by, the all red is the male, but the brown female has lovely touches of red on its crest, and they look out for each other.
Thanks all for the very kind love

Mary many thanks for your great words, I know, thanks to Thomas we get some long forgotten history here! I don't remember all the states offhand, just that most were Atlantic and mid-Atlantic (Ohio, Virginia & West Va. are all a few)

Ha Eileen, not only do they salute them, they'll say "hello Mr Magpie, and how is the Mrs" to further keep away the bad luck from seeing a solo one lol! I know all this from being a fan of British TV, films and esp their mystery books (hubby is hooked on their chocolate digestive biscuits, which are now sold in supermarkets,I used to have to buy them online)
Thanks so much Vynil for the kind love, it's much appreciated and glad you liked these cardinals
Thanks vcal & Giana for the love for this red cardinal & other posts, very kind of you both & greatly appreciated
