Through research I've found that this plate is from the 1860s, which puts it at the early stages of baseball, even before the first major league was established. This is a child's ABC/Alphabet plate, which were common during the time, with the thought that children can learn even while they eat or do everyday activities.
This plate is in terrible condition, with clear glue added to a crack. I got it at a very discounted rate because of this fact and just wanted to own something from the early years of baseball. I haven't seen many "Out at the Third Base" examples online. Maybe it's more rare than other ones? I'm not sure.
Thanks for looking.
Very cool early baseball scene
Thank you. I just wish it wasn't in such bad shape.
