This is not the first appearance of this piece on these pages, and it has been in my memory since it was first posted a year ago. Circumstances and fate smiled upon me, and I was able to get it at auction recently. This shape and size are repeated in the Series II paper patterns. PN II-311 (without applied prunts and drips) is the exact same size and shape as this one, and the client they were made for was the Paris firm Delvaux. The neck opening is very narrow and the rim is fire-polished; there is a ground and nicely polished pontil underneath. The iridescence is very good, with a nice variety of pink and blue hues. It is 8.5 cm (3.35 inches) tall, and about 4.5-5.0 inches wide.
Perfume bottle??
The cleverness of those drawings continues to amaze me.
Probably so, Marty - the neck is so narrow that it couldn't hold more than one stem, and a thin one at that.
