My "Sort of" Audubon

So here's the deal. I run up on this 1930s style "Plate 104" belonging to John J Audubon Birds of North America. Sort of. It is a gift from your insurance company or bank. In the words of Audubon inf.org "There are millions of these pictures & they are virtually worthless". I disagree. These were the arts of my grandma's walls during the depression & World War II. She had The Lord's Prayer circled in The 10 Commandments cut, folded with a crease so sharp made with her sharp little fingernails. The design was literally "Biblical". We fought over who would inherit it.
With that said, I love my Audubon owls I know it should read Plate #IV. Mine has Plate #4. So what? And I don't care if it came from the pawn shop calendar. When I got older I asked her why she cut the cheap pages from McCall's or Look magazines. Her answer was sweet, "Everybody deserves pretty things".
