This my favorite cousin's doll, she named Suzy Q., that was given to her for Christmas in 1952. I need to stress that "Suzy Q." is NOT the official company name for her, it's Shirley's nickname for the doll. I've updated and edited this into the post to eliminate any confusion from my original post. She does NOT remember any factory name given for her. Cousin Shirley and I have always been close. We always do the family Christmas thing and I thought I'd share her doll and see if y'all can give me some info on her. She's about 20" and made around '52. She doesn't remember any actual toymaker's name for her.
Suzy is in incredible shape. She was well loved by Shirley, just like the cats she has had. This was my cousin's last doll, she was in the 6th grade and growing up.

Did you look on back of her neck for markings or on her back ? She is not in original dress so makes it a bit harder to ID her . let me know what her markings are ok

We could find NO markings anywhere. Looked at the neck the first thing. Nothing on the feet bottoms, no country of origin, so maybe USA made. She's looking for old pictures that may show her original outfit. I only know she got in December '52 to approximate a date.

They played that in Apocalypse Now in the USO show with the Playmates. CCR put out a chain of hits when I was in HS.

I loved Cosmo's Factory. I wore out an album and several 8 tracks of it.

I remember Suzie Cute in the 60's because Louis Armstrong sang in the commercial. Suzy Q. is just what Shirley named her, I don't think she ever knew the actual product name for the doll. I probably should have mentioned that because I can see how it could be confusing. A lot of dolls back then came without a package, jyst loose.

I updated my post to avoid confusion. Suzy Q or Suzy isn't the manufacturer's name for the doll. That's just what my cousin named her. My original post made it seem like it was the official name and I appologize for the confusion. Shirley doesn't remember any original maker's name for her at all. She may not even have an official trademark name like "Barbie" etc. I've seen old catalogs list dolls like this as 20" vinyl doll, etc. no actual human name for it.

My cousin got a doll in about '61 for Christmas. It was made to dance with, it had elastic bands on the doll's feet that you strapped around your feet so it followed the movement of your feet while you "danced" with her. It dwarfed me, it was tall!
