I've seen that severe down bend in a number of Confederate side knives but the blood gutters look like an artillery short sword, which was issued by numerous countries.

French & Amer. are the main producers of the brass handled artillery short sword as you have. French blades may, or may not have the blood gutter configuration of yours. Look real close at the top of the blade, in front of the handguard, & see if you can detect, "AMES" and a date. I'm pretty certain that this is a Civil War soldier's side knife. Since Southern soldiers were most prone to carry these big knives, I wouldn't feel wrong at putting it for sale as: A probable Confederate 'D' handle side knife with (probable) Ames artillery sword blade. I would say, a min. $300 & maybe well above that. Bon chance.
