My grandmother had one of these and I got it from my mother in my teens.
This one was in a vintage costume jewelry lot with a few other goodies, hubby was willing to get it for my gift this week.
I really like it, has a sentimental value. There is an odd mark, a decimal 1/10. That is it, no other marks. The cameo is a small carved shell, cool to the touch.
Thank you so much Thomas, Mrs.C, and Mary. Your comments are much appreciated for my new baubles.
Thank you for the loves CW members.
Mrs. C, sadly I do not have it anymore, my mother gave my sister and I a bunch of mementoes, photos, jewelry and knick knacks when we were in our late teens. At that age we did not appreciate them very much, and just put them away.
In my twenties I went through a stage were I had no money at all, working part time in a mall, a woman who was in the antique business asked me if I had any old jewelry, and I brought her the bracelet. She grabbed it like it was highly valuable....with that gleam in her eyes..... I think she gave me $10 or $20. for it. She also bought a few more things from my mother.
Today I am sorry I did not know better, for many reasons. The value and also the importance of keeping these things. :-)
