This is the rest of the pieces with the Iittaca Marimekko bowl that once I found out where it came from I was then able to identify the other pieces.I believe most of these are older than I thought that came from Sweden,Findland and possibly Scandinavia. The crystal dish is signed Orrefors 1969 with HQ Stockholm engraved on it and the light blue rose bowl has a sticker on it with Franck that’s barely visible and something else I can’t make out.The yellow vase is really unique that’s made from real thin glass that’s white on the inside with white swirls mixed in with the yellow on the outside. This vase and the tall amber glass piece that looks like someone turned in to a lamp are really neat.As nice a color as the glass is I bet it lit up on the inside also.I thought about getting a base and wiring it up to use as a lamp again but my last wiring project threw the breaker but not before the old CRV tv I was working on exploded.I’m a electrocution not electrician. There’s a deep purple bowl with a small cup and crystal bird full of bubbles with a turtle. Thanks for looking.
Gorgeous Scandinavian glass, of course I must give special mention to the wonderful bubble glass bird & turtle
Thank Jenni,Hope you have a great New Year.
Let me see the sticker with Franck on it. What does it look like?
Just an observation about the tall amber piece: with the very small opening in the top, it may have been made specifically as a lamp rather than someone turning it into a lamp.
Possibly someone disassembled a lamp in order to keep just the pretty glass section.
Maybe you could brush up on your electrical skills and make it into a lamp again that would not burn the house down (LOL).
Hello Watchsearcher,I think your right about that piece of glass.I couldn’t figure out what it could have been as I couldn’t find any other lamps like this.At first I thought it might have been a bottle turned in to a lamp but it’s not.I bet it lit up on the inside also.I’m a really good electrocution not electrician.I can’t tell you what a total disaster that my attempts at wiring things have turned out.Blown fuses, screw drivers flying across the room along with fried wires and fingers.I’ll see what I can do but if you see a huge amber explosion coming from Florida I’ve had a problem. Thanks for looking at this.
You have not answered my question but I think that if it's Iittala it's probably the finish designer Kaj Franck. But maybe you knew that already :)
Hello Elisabethan,If you check your last post on CW I sent you a reply there 26 days ago trying to answer your question.I wanted to know how I could get a picture of the sticker to you but I never heard anything back.Sorry
Ok sorry I missed it. I was thinking you could post another photo. But you can search on the name I gave you and see if you can find a bowl/vase by him like yours or a photo of a label. Good luck :) I really like your glass pieces.
If you hadn’t have said it looked like Merimekko glass I still wouldn’t have had a clue.I am so thankful you did because I took everything to 2 different art glass dealers about 20 miles from me.One place in safety harbor is really nice. They sell upper end glass and they have glass blowers that make some unreal pieces for them. It’s been there at least 20 years he said this bowl was really special that had to have been custom made by master craftsmen that really knew what they were doing.Out of curiosity I asked asked him what it would cost to make something like this.He said because the base and bowl not the top are one solid piece that he wouldn’t even attempt it.I’ve been chasing down the Ratia name that was on the box and I may have figured out who this was made for. There’s at least 5 more boxes with all kinds of really neat glass in them all with the Ratia name on the outside. When I finally figure this out I’ll post the results. Thanks again for your help and take care.
You are welcome :)
