The newest of my own 'big ashtray collection' ;-) this one simply *had* to come home with me, after being spotted for <$2 at Goodwill...?!! <lol>
It is indeed rather large (and thus also kinda heavy) at 8-1/2" across and 2-1/2" high, made of a lovely shade of blue glass with a sorta scalloped upper edge making for 16 cigar/cigarette rests each about 7/8" wide. Its base is indented and bears no maker's marks whatsoever that I can see.
After perusing the pages of bigashtray.com I only find one similar example (attr. to ROSICE, Adolf Matura, 1970's Czech.) but that one is smaller (12 scallops) and in a pretty purplish color instead.

Y'all glass experts will have to tell me if there's any connection between that one and my blue one, PLEASE...???!! ;-) :-) :-)
Wow that is a very nice blue color. Looks like the transformer arc "explosion" in Astoria Queens last nite. Very very nice pick up.
My belated THANKS to clockerman, fortapache, Newfld, Brunswick, & Mamakkbee for your comments and <love it>s!!!
I was prompted to look back at this today after someone else showed their Viking "Bluenique" vase this morning, and the colors are *so similar*? (at least to my untrained eye anyway?) Then again, it also seems though *lots* of glassmakers have pieces of the same general color too...??
Designed by Adolf Matura for Libochovice in 1962, pattern number 983......I have one posted too

Hi antiquerose and thanks for your comment -- but your ashtrays (like the purple one I first found on bigashtray.com and another green one spotted there today) are smaller in diameter (and number of scallops) plus maybe taller if yours are actually 4" high. They also don't seem sized as though they would have been intended to "nest" -- mine isn't 'too big' enough for that...???
More gracious THANKS to keramikos and Nafssalg for stopping by and punching the <love it> button!! I am still loving this big ole chunk of glass myself too, and actually use it every day?!! [da*n, but I DO need to 'kick that habit'...]
