Why the women? I watched a recent BBC (British Broadcasting) biographical movie about the Bronte sisters, all published writers from the North of England, during the period of 1838 to 1848. They all died young from infectious tuberculosis, which can be transmitted easily through the air from coughs and other contact with infected persons.
It inspired me to go on Wiki and read more about their tragic life, and how they were poor but well educated ladies, daughters of a Church curate who appreciated and encouraged them as excellent literary gifted authors for those times. Because they were women, they first published as men, till they had to reveal their secret persona.
To this day, women have small reminders all the time that there are still some subtle differences between the importance of men and of women. I feel it at home, when I am not believed but a male friend is, with less knowledge that I have. I feel it in groups where women are not viewed as leaders or more competent.
Men who are complete strangers are automatically given more credibility. We have the words mysoginist and chauvinist to describe this attitude. We think we are much beyond the old days of - stay in the kitchen where you belong. Yet, deep down, men still feel that superiority.
I expect this post will be found amusing by some. This is my perception in 2019, I am outspoken and female, still not an appreciated mix. :-)
Happy New Year truthordare!
I love women
All the best,Lisa:)
