Okay, this Is an incredible find, as antique Korean hairpins are nearly impossible to find, much less in gold.. I knew it was an antique but, I had no idea it was gold. I removed some of the dirt just to get a basic idea of its condition. I will clean it thoroughly and repost new pics. Not sure of the actual gold content - it tested positive at 14k.
It’s approx 7” and in fine condition.

The work in this is amazing. Look at the prongs holding the coral, and the delicate enameling, even the design around the shank. Wow.
Natasha can I ask how you tell Korean pins from say Chinese or Japanese?

This is a typical Korean Hairpin. The Shape, how it's made. You can find modern versions, even in fine gold and gems BUT....an antique one of this quality is a rarity, for sure.

Chinese, Japanese and Korean hair sticks will share similar design qualities within a finished product. I've been collecting these things for so long, I can tell right away.

This hairpin was listed as a Chinese page turner - the guy had no idea what it really was. He even took it to an expert...lol He posted a terrible dark shadowy picture, that barely showed any of the fine details. I recognized it right away by its shape and I could see some of the enameling but, I had no idea that it was gold.

I'm going to post some Japanese hair pieces and then you can see the variations.
