It's really cool to find one of these with all parts intact and in good condition. The bowl has a cap that fits underneath the lid, presumably to keep the scent from diffusing while not in use. Remove the cap, and the outer lid has holes drilled to allow the scent to come through. Marmoriertes (marbled) uranium white and red carneol glass threads, ornately enameled. The production number and enameled DEK number are unknown. Technically not my first buy of the new year, but the first one of which I actually took possession. Hat tip to my friend Seth Weisel for finding this beauty.
So for pot pourri ???
Extraordinary to have all three pieces intact. WOW !,!
I think so, Kevin - the inside of this piece still has a flowery potpourri scent.
Thank you for this. I have suspected that many of these small bowls were intended (and probably marketed) as potpourris and sachets. This helps reinforce that notion.
Hi Warren could this be a Tobacco Humidor?
I don't think so, Marty - it doesn't seem like it would work for that purpose.
adore how it looks with the uv light
