This machine was purchased at the Canadian National Exibition and has the CNE tag on it. It was purchased by my grandmother at the CNE and has the serial number JB033099. Does anyone know much about this model?

What you have is a class 15 Singer with what is called a potted motor . I forget the model right now , it will sew in reverse to form a back stitch . Yours appears to be in very good condition . The cabinet however shows it's age and could use a little TLC . These type of machines are sought after by collectors because of the potted motor , no belt on these beauties they are gear driven and will sew just about anything . They will also last forever if taken good care of .

Would you be able to add a close-up of the badge? You have a very desirable model and one rarely seen.
      Thanks for sharing!

My mom worked for Singers in Chester Pennsylvania in the 40s. She still has a machine identical to this one.She has been using it for over 60 years.

These old sewingmachines and old scales with the copper or brass hopper all seem to be undervalued based on the workmanship and display potential of them. They are downright cheap to buy from what Ive seen.If they were future collectables you could really make a killing by hoarding them now.Just one mans take on it....Jordan

I once bought one of these at a garage sale . It did not have a case or a cabinet . I paid $1.00 for it . I fixed it put it into a nice cabinet and sold it without hardly trying for $400.00 .

Singers with the CNE badge are around up here (Canada), but so far, no sighting of a CNE Featherweight. But I plan to keep looking! :D

Singer exhibited and sold the current models of those made/ completed in St. John’s, Ca. in their display booth. Those machines had the special badges like yours, attached. As the CNE’s runs or only an 18 day span each year, those found are considered very scarce/ rare due to the limited window in which to buy one.

Examples of the aforementioned badges can be found in Collectors Weekly for the CNE years of 1936, 1937, 1938, & 1939.
