Old desk that was given to me a few years. Came from somebody that collected antiques but don’t know if this is or not. I would like to know if it is worth paying for an appraisal or if i just give it away. Any information or guidance would be much appreciated

The picture is a little dark but regardless of that I would say it is a Maddox knee hole desk. If so they were in Jamestown, NY I believe. The design and top lead me to believe it is one of their pieces. I am sure you can google them and come up with many, many images of their desks. You desk is fairly plain compared to some of their work. I found desks like yours listed on eBay. It is a fairly common desk and not an antique, vintage would be a better term. With an item this common you should be able to come up with a price without needing an appraisal but keep in mind condition is all important.
