I wanted to share these odd pieces I have with my Flintridge Marquis Fine China set. The insides are lined with gold paint and the cups and saucers have the dark bronze on the outside and gold on the inside rather than the traditional white with gold and bronze stripes. The soup bowls look just like the regular ones (with the stripes) except they have the gold interior. I must offer a caveat in that the whole set was given to me by my step-grandmother in the late 1950s. She worked for the Flintridge factory in Pasadena and I've always wondered if these were "experiments" by her or a co-worker. They are beautiful, but I have never tried to drink from them. I have several cups and saucers, some handled soup bowls (see pictures) and a salt and pepper set that are all bronze and gold.
I have more pictures that I can provide, but this was all I was allotted.
Has anyone ever seen anything like them?
Yes... Flintridge was bought out by Gorham which, in turn, was bought by Lenox. Most of the Flintridge patterns were discontinued when Gorham took it over. My dishes are the "coupe" variation. Over the years, I've tried to find out if these pieces are recognized by anyone, but so far, no luck on their story.
