So, I found this print at the thrift store today. After I got it home I took the back off so I could see if there was a signature hidden behind the matte. That's when I discovered that it is actually an announcement. The art on the front is Joan Miró's "Personagges Oiseaux" that was done in Venetian marble and glass and is installed at the Edwin Ulrich Museum of Art at Wichita State University. I assume this was an announcement that was distributed announcing an upcoming visit he was planning there. I was wondering if his signature was on all the announcements or if possibly someone had him sign this one when he got there? It looks like it could be ink, but its hard to tell because it also must have had a backing glued to it because there is paper stuck to it in places. I just thought the placement looked kind of random, like how a signature would look. Just curious if anyone has some insight or has seen these before? Are there any art history majors from Wichita State on here? Thanks for your help!
Beautiful modern art bird images, and great to find the artist's signature on back
I contacted the school and apparently the cards were printed with the signature. Still a cool find and something worth adding to my collection. I just wont be able to sell it on eBay for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Bummer
