A pair of French (?) figurines from late 19th century. Who's the sculptor ?

I bought this 36 cm high pair of French (?) dark bronze figurines from late 19th century at an auction and had them gilded. Later on I've found out - somewhere on the Internet - that the vases originally had lids, but the lids have unfortunately been lost at some time. Who's the sculptor ?
