Can anyone tell me what type of sword these are? Wendymcastell@gmail.com. They were handed down to us. What century were they used? What year. How made them? Who used them? Did they kill anyone? Oh my, the last question made me think too much into this. I could be holding a weapon that killed someone. That is alarming. If anyone has anyone information, please let me know. I do not know what to do with them. They are dusty.

Both appear to be foot officer's swords. Second one is an 1850 model. The other may be foreign, as it doesn't incorporate the rose design in the hand guard. By the time of the War For Southern Independence, the sword was used more as a symbol of rank

Oops ! Got that backwards. 1st. one is the 1850 model.
