This is another Hubley #495 plane. I've posted several before, this is from the American Eagle series that were made after Gabriel purchased Hubley in 1966. It was the same plane with new color combos with the name changed from Navy Fighter. The only difference is they don't have the striped rudder stickers. Gabriel still offered the dk. blue/lt. blue/red version of the last Hubley 495 and also one that looks like this one except that the bottom fuselage was white. These were offered sometime between '66 and '75 when the Hubley name ceased to exist.
It is in Hubley grading optimum condition. With just minuscule paint chips, good decals and crystal clear canopy. I got a great deal on it. Seems like the Hubley market is flat right now, I've got some great stuff at decent prices in the last 2 months.
I picked up another 495 flying circus plane also. It's missing the prop and has a bent wing, but it had the all important canopy. You can only get the replacement canopies from the rip-offs at the Classic Tin Toy Co. They want $25 for the canopy with shipping. I got this entire plane(minus the prop) with canopy for $22!!. I emailed Tin Toy and explained that they ought to include a complimentary tube of Vaseline with their orders. For some reason they haven't responded yet. I've got another Gabriel/Hubley earth scraper to post and I won a Hubley p-38 that's supposedly in the mail. I got a great deal on both also.
As always thanks for taking a peak,

Nice Plane
I’m glad you didn’t have
to travel to Hershey highway to get the canopy
I haven't had to be violated by them so far, Thomas. I've been able to buy entire planes cheaper than what their parts cost.
It was Vynil XXXIII I was commenting too. For some reason I mixed the names up. I have slydexia, maybe that's it.
Apparently I shouldn't look them up for parts for my Texaco Fire Truck.
Thanks everyone, Ftapache I highly DON'T recommend them. Their prices are worse for Tonka, Buddy L, Structo etc. these manufacturers have a larger base than Hubley. Higher demand, higher prices. These manufacturers usually get higher prices than Hubleys on the average for vintage vehicles though. I can't remember who made your fire truck, tell me the parts you need and I can make some suggestions. I do a lot of investigating in restore parts and I like reasonable prices. I've looked everywhere and they're the only ones that have the 495 canopy.
