This 7 1-4"H romantic figurine is titled The Suitor, showing a gentleman in period costume kneeling before his lady, presumably asking for her hand. In dark green, blue, yellow and white, designed by M Davies for Royal Doulton, made in England 1961-1962, item no HN2132
Lovely romantic piece!
This is lovely! It seems to be a different type of piece for you?I'm just judging this based on your previous collection pieces, such as brooches and glass animals.
Hi, Jenni.... this really is a nice Royal Doulton figurine. I recently contemplated purchasing a Royal Doulton vase on one of the shopping channels, but the newer pieces are made in China. I wish they would go back to making their pieces in England. Thanks for sharing. Love it!!
Thank you for the love all

Thank you Eileen for the sweet words, had this Royal Doulton for years and always wanted to post it, a classic vintage pose of a gentleman proposing, they did make beautiful figurines and glad you enjoyed my Valentine's theme this wk
Thanks MrsT for the kind praise, really appreciate it
Lauren you are so right, I'm mostly an animal figure & brooch person, but hey Valentine's deserves a bit of romance I thought - and ceramics I do have some of, you'll be glad to know I finally found a llama! Thank you for enjoying this and for your thoughtfulness
Hi TimeT, so glad you liked this romantic Doulton piece, yes the older pieces were made in England up to the early 2000s, then the co started producing them in Asia but I still love their figurines, believe they are still made of bone china - they certainly get high prices even for later ones, I find I do better online. Appreciate the compliments very much :)
Many thanks aura for the love and appreciation
Many thanks my friends Sean and Phil for the love and appreciation
Thanks for posting this nice piece with the name.I have a antique German porcelain wall plaque in a gold gilded frame that’s a lot like this.I never had any idea what to call it so I gave it the name “ lovebirds “.I’ll post it so you can see what I mean.
Thank you jbingham for the wonderful comment & love, and I am so glad you posted your beautiful courtship plaque, I just love the romance of these pieces. Lovebirds is a perfect description!
