I found these earrings at an estate sale. One of the decorations has detached from the earrings. I’d like to learn something about them before I attempt to repair it clean them. The design reminds me of a scarab. It also appears that they are two different colors, one has faded? Thanks as always for any info!
Thank you MsCrystalship
Can't well identify the carved decor, but pretty sure your nice earrings are early 20th ventury chinese export, carved turquoise and maybe gilt siver!
Any marking?

How can I determine what the earrings are made of?
Gorgeous jade scarab design, probably around 1923 o.r so, when they found the tomb of King Tut
Beautiful earrings. My first thought is that they are very very nice czeck Peking glass earrings. The filigree does look more czeck to me and not chinese. Compare the metall details to other antique czeck and chinese filigree jewelry and make up you mind on what is most likely. They are very beautiful to me. Great find!
And do they feel like stone or glass (cold) or somewhat plastic (less cold) ? Valentino might be right on celluloid if think one have faded? That sounds unlikely if it is glass or stone.
The earrings are marked STER on the piece that holds the stone/glass and on the back of the screw.
