Unused example of early 1970s - possibly late 1960s, Pop Art to wear. This vest and some matching fabric was recently acquired from an estate in Upstate NY by the online seller. According to the tags, this was made by Rugby Sportswear, decorated in VIBRANT colors and features comic panels that seem to be taken from a romance comic.
There is one repeated panel that is signed Nicky Zann. The fabric is a medium weight cotton with a terry cloth lining. Not quite a Lichenstein (sigh) but certainly inspired by him and the Pop Art movement.
The artist: Nicholas Zann was born in 1943 in New York City, where he resides today. His career spans five decades and covers a multifaceted terrain, including painting, illustration and music.
