I was told that these were ammo "boats" from WWII. Any help would be appreciated. They were being used as plant holders.

A couple feet long
Please help!
Any idea?
Really? No one knows what they are?
Plant Holders...! LOL
Do you know what they are?
I am totally at a loss, but don't buy the "ammo boat" theory
I am not sure what was meant by the word "boat" I assumed that they were either used to store ammo on boats or had something to do with storing ammo in water. The father of the seller was a WWII veteran and fought on Iwo Jima.
Many terms came from something totally unrelated, or were used to describe what something looked like (Pineapple grenade) and (crows foot wrench) so thses might have been called "Boats" because they resembled boats.. it's very hard to tell. You might try someone at an Army-Navy store or VFW ? Sorry but I've never seen anything like it before.
Thanks Pop_abides
Sorry, I wish I could help. I have never seen anything like this before.
stepback_antiques thanks for trying. I'd appreciate if you would try to help me with one more piece. It is a WWII sweater made in Hollywood. I have it posted on this site. I have emailed several collectors and none have ever seen anything like it.
